OEKC Round 5 – Whilton Mill
July 20th 2014

We approached this race with much confidence after the last round. We reviewed the fuelling situation that arose in the last round and were confident we could now match our competitors for fuel consumption.

We tested the kart in the morning with a new axle which proved successful then worked on a few other small details for the race. The kart felt really good.
We had a good qualifying session but were pipped to pole in the dying seconds so had to settle for 2nd position.

As the race started we were in the lead by the first corner and never looked back. We ended the first stint around half a lap in the lead. We were extremely unfortunate during our first fuel stop as we had to queue and were presented with other obstacles. We started the second stint half a lap down on first and second position. The day continued with no issues or mechanical incidents and we managed another 3rd place finish.

This has now moved us up to 5th in the championship as we seek to recover lost ground after a poor start to the season.
