BAYFORD MEADOWS
21st June 2009

Today was always going to be a bit of a gamble with the wet weather conditions. We decided to use both warm up and qualifying to set up the kart perfectly for the wet race. We qualified 16th from 21 karts but we expected this. As the race started Jon made a great move around the outside of turn two allowing us to move up to 11th. By the end of lap 3 we were 6th and keeping a very consistent pace. By lap 7 we were 3rd and chasing down 1st and 2nd place. The rain had stopped at this point and the track was starting to dry but not enough to go onto slicks.

During our pitstop we decided to switch to slicks and take the early gamble. We thought we?d be slower for 10 laps but the other teams would have to pit again for tyres as they had already pitted for fuel. Eight laps after our pit stop we were four laps down and losing ground fast. It didn?t look like a good decision but we had no choice but to see it though. Six laps later we starting gaining 4 seconds a lap as the track was suiting our tyre choice. With the majority of the field pitting we came from 21st and four laps down to 5th position. We held this position till the end.
