OEKC Round 7 – Whilton Mill
September 8th 2013

After the last race (Milton Keynes) we straitened the bent chassis and went into practice. The kart felt ok but not like the same machine we have experienced. The kart had a lot of understeer which wasn’t a normal characteristic of our chassis. We made some adjustments to dial this out and continued to qualify.

We started the race with no incident and by the third stint we were in second position. The kart still didn’t seem as usual and started to make some unusual noises. We continued.?The rain came which we endured and continued on slicks until the track dried. Then bang!…. as is usual with our luck, the sprocket stripped and we lost drive. We returned to the pits to fix the problem and continued to race. The time lost put us down to eleventh position which is where we finished.

After the race we realised the chassis was split under the engine which explained the sprocket issue and the handling. We think this is a result of the previous race.
