OEKC Round 3 – Whilton Mill
May 19th 2013

Today we arrived at Whilton Mill with great expectations as usual. During practice the kart felt good and minimal setup changes needed to me made. Qualifying started and we promptly had our usual pole position.

As the race started, Reece proceeded to move away from the field into a comfortable position with 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions dicing for position. The kart was performing well and our speed was good.

Then our luck reared it’s ugly head again. Reece reported a vibration in the kart via radio and moments after, the rear axle failed with a split through the middle. We recovered the kart to the pits and started work to change the axle. This was most annoying as we believe the failure was a manufacturing fault rather than anything else. We fixed the kart and got back on track where we continued to set the fastest laps of the day. The axle failure cost us too much track time and resulted in us finishing 18th out of the 30 teams.
